All the computer users must be aware of the fact that it is not always safe to save the data in hard disk of the system. Some might not agree with this fact but this is damn true that the data stored in the hard disk can be lost at any time under the worst circumstances. The hard disk of the PC is not as sturdy as a CD or DVD. Basically, the hard disks are active and mechanical storage devices which have the higher probability of breakdown if we compare them with the other mechanical storage products. So, the question is what should be done in case of the hard disk failure and how to recover the lost data?
Well, if you use Windows XP operating system, then you can easily recover the lost data. Just follow these steps in the sequential order and you can recover the lost data:
- First of all, go to the “Start” button and click it.
- From the option of “All Programs”, go to the “Accessories” option.
- After clicking this option, click “System Tools” option.
- After clicking “System Tools” option, you will be able to see several options like Disk Defragmenter, System restore, Back up and many more. From the list of these options, click on the option “System Restore”.
- A Pop Up window will appear on the monitor.
- You would be given two options:
- Restore my computer to an early time, and
- Create a Restore Point.
- Select the former option and click “Next”.
- After this step, again a window will appear on the screen, this time a calendar will be available to you, so that you can choose the suitable date for restoring your computer.
- It is advisable to select a date which is near to the date you saw your lost file.
- After confirmation, you would be able to finish the process of restoring your computer.
- The file would be available in its respective location once the computer finishes with Rebooting.
So, make sure that you fix up all these steps as soon as possible because it is not a complicated task but it can help you a lot in longer duration.
